During independent reading time, we have been growing our reading behaviors to help build stamina and focus for reading. Each child chose a reading behavior and set a WIG (Wildly Important Goal) to help him/her become a better reader. Some of the reading behaviors we are working on include:
- Make a stack of books and read through the stack
- Have a book in my hands the whole reading time
- REALLY pay attention to my books
- Stay in my reading space the whole reading time
- Read quietly with a level 0 or level 1 voice
Make sure to ask your child about the WIG he/she set for independent reading time.
