Valentine's Day

We had a fun week celebrating Valentine's Day! The kids were very excited to exchange Valentines and cards with each other. As they were passing out Valentines to each other, one child remarked, "Wow, this must be how the mail man feels. This is a lot of mail to deliver!"

We have also been continuing our learning about forces and motion. Today, the kids explored how they were able to push air to set a ping pong ball into motion. They were amazed!

Force and Motion

This week, we started a new unit of study in science about force and motion. We have been discussing how things move and have discovered that most things move with a push or a pull. The kids explored how the forces of pushing and pulling set objects into motion around our classroom. They recorded their findings on a Venn diagram and worked together to do so. Many children wanted a blank Venn diagram to take home to explore pushes and pulls at home over the weekend. We certainly have some budding scientists in our room!

Hard at Work and Play

This week we have discussed being 'productive' at school. We have talked about wasting time and how it affects us. We have also talked about what it looks like to be productive in school (and home), both during work times and play times. Being productive during play sounds like a funny thing to work on, but it is incredible how much more learning has happened when we have practiced productivity! The kids have been very busy learning and creating. I told them their productivity would be featured on our blog this week. We hope you enjoy their creations during their productive play!
